What’s going on in Utah? Why would the Jazz do that? Why would they do that? Alright, enough of that; the big news in the NBA today from Woj is that the Utah Jazz are now willing to listen to trade offers for 25-year-old star guard Donovan Mitchell. You know the Donovan Mitchell who made fun of Ben Simmons, aka Simmo, the Savage, for being a fake rookie.
Are the Sixers interested? I am sure they are. Was Donovan Mitchell at Michael Rubin’s fourth of July party? Yes, he was. The only chip the Sixers have here is Tyrese Maxey, and I don’t think they should part with him. Maxey is a 21-year-old with a very high ceiling everyone loves in and outside the organization. Tyrese Maxey is who you build around if this whole thing blows up. Outside of Kevin Durant, I don’t think there is any way the Sixers part with Maxey this offseason.
If a Mitchell trade happens, the front runners seem to be the Knicks and the Heat. A Knicks backcourt pairing of Brunson and Mitchell would improve them, and with another star next to Jimmy Butler, the Heat would almost certainly be one of the top eastern conference teams again next year. What’s the best-case scenario here for the Sixers? In a multi-team trade, the Sixers come away with Beverly, Bogdanovic, or Clarkson? I am unsure of the cap fit, but those guys would improve the roster.
